Their goals are to reduce poverty, create jobs, and boost the overall economy. They achieve this by providing crucial support in various areas, including access to financing, skill development training, technological advancements, and business advisory services.

United Nations Global Compact (UNGC)

The United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) is the world’s largest initiative for businesses committed to sustainability. Launched in 2000, it encourages companies to follow ten principles that promote human rights, fair labor practices, environmental responsibility, and anti-corruption efforts. UNGC is non-binding, but participating companies report on their progress towards these goals, fostering transparency and accountability.

BASIS

Founded in 1997, the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) is the leading national trade body for the country’s software and information technology (IT) industry. BASIS works to develop a thriving software and IT-enabled services sector in Bangladesh. They represent over 1100 member companies, advocate for industry-friendly policies, and organize programs to enhance the skills and capabilities of the IT workforce.

O.Creeds

Onushondhani Creeds Limited, also known as O.Creeds, isn’t just an engineering firm; it’s a Bangladeshi hub for innovation in sustainable development. Founded in Dhaka, they focus on environmental solutions and utilize open-source software and emerging technologies to create sustainable designs and tackle climate challenges. Their services range from traditional landscape maintenance and pollution reduction to applying drone-based modeling for large-scale development projects.

SheRAA

Established by Bangladesh’s Ingenious Group BD, SheRAA is an online marketplace aiming to be a one-stop shop for consumers. With over 450 partner vendors offering a vast array of products and services, SheRAA caters to diverse customer needs. Their platform simplifies online shopping by providing a central location for browsing and purchasing various items. This not only benefits consumers seeking convenience but also empowers small and medium-sized businesses by offering them a platform to reach a wider audience.

E-CAB Bangladesh

Founded in 2015, the e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB) is a key player in the country’s booming online business sector. This non-profit organization serves as the voice of e-commerce entrepreneurs and online consumers. They work to cultivate a thriving e-commerce ecosystem in Bangladesh by supporting young entrepreneurs, advocating for government policies that favor e-commerce growth, and offering valuable resources and benefits to their members.

Power Research and Development Consultants Pvt Ltd

Power Research and Development Consultants Pvt Ltd (PRDC), established in India in 1994, is a private company specializing in the power sector. They offer a comprehensive range of services for utilities, industries, and government agencies. PRDC focuses on improving energy efficiency and power systems. Their expertise includes consultancy services, software development for power system analysis and distribution planning, and training programs for power engineers. 

Women and e-Commerce

Women’s involvement in e-commerce is surging in Bangladesh. Online shopping platforms have opened up opportunities for women as both consumers and entrepreneurs. A significant number of female shoppers, particularly in fashion and accessories, are driving this trend. Additionally, platforms like Facebook and Instagram are enabling women to launch their own online businesses from the comfort of their homes, further fueling the growth of female e-commerce entrepreneurs.

Prantic Unnayan Society (Prantic)

Founded in 1998, Bangladesh’s Prantic Unnayan Society (Prantic) focuses on empowering marginalized populations, particularly women and children from underprivileged families. “Prantic” translates to “marginalized” in Bengali, reflecting their mission to uplift those facing social, economic, or political hardship. They provide education through community learning centers, skills development programs, and advocacy efforts.

Bonhishikha Unlearn Gender is a Bangladeshi feminist organization that uses theater and storytelling to challenge traditional gender roles and promote gender equality. Founded in Dhaka, they started by adapting an American play but have since shifted their focus to sharing local stories about women’s experiences, domestic violence, the LGBTQ+ community, and the limitations imposed by societal expectations around masculinity and femininity.

Interactive Cares is a Bangladeshi edtech company focused on upskilling and career development. They offer a variety of online courses, ranging from academic subjects like English grammar and GRE preparation to professional skill development programs in areas like graphic design, data analysis, and digital marketing. Interactive Cares goes beyond traditional academics, aiming to help learners discover their interests and build a well-rounded skillset that prepares them for the job market.
